My Daily Life: What a Beautiful Day!

My Daily Life: What a Beautiful Day!

What a Beautiful Day!

I just figured out how to change my font and color! YAY! I thought this would be a nice spring color. I love spring, new LIFE. Instead of an article, I felt inspired to actually write my own thoughts today. You are probably thinking, Whew! I thought this lady was just a uncreative geek. To that I answer, Sometimes, yes, I am. I can be quite creative too. I hope you will really hear my heart and not focus so much on correctness of my words. It's the thoughts that are important. The mind really does intrigue me. God has really been working on teaching me that he truly has an awesome plan for my life. He also has told me, Change your mind, Change your results. It absolutely works and I'm always a work in progress like every human being on this planet. The sun was shining outside today so beautifully. I got on my Monday morning prayer call and enjoyed God's presence and testimonies from other ladies. Then, I decided to get out of my comfort zone a bit and go on a playdate with other moms from our Abilene Moms Cafe Mom group. I never did find the park they were at. I just drove around for 40 mintues, then came back towards my house and took my kiddos to the park. We had a blast. The warm sun shining on your face is such a comfort for me. I might even get some more color on my face before summer. I can actually stretch some of my legs and can almost touch my toes. My body really is getting stronger. I'm so happy. 15 minutes of activity each day truly does help the tight muscles and does loads for my confidence. After years of being couped up due to Fibro, it's nice to just go and be a normal mom again. The new meds are really wonderful. My kids love having me back as does my hubby. I almost forgot how much fun just swinging and laughing is. You are never too old to have a second childhood. We thrive on it. In fact, my husband and oldest son just went to a church softball practice. Yes, we have entered BASEBALL season. How fun! : )
Peace, Kindness, Joy, Patience, Goodness, Grace, Love and Blessings,

An update on me!

I am still sick again today. I have a horrible sore throat and a low grade fever. I'm just kinda laying around doing what I can and resting. I'm reading a really interesting and convertcial book. It is leaving quite an impact in my head which is not easily done. I believe once I read it through, my life will be changed and won't be the same. I love books that do that. I am drinking my hot tea and honey again today. It's the only thing that seems to help me feel better where I'm not dry hacking all the time. I was supposed to teach Pre-Kindergarten's at Church but got sick. I know they didn't need my germs.

Beware of Those Energy Drinks!

I am writing this post due to a friend of mine's stepson drinking these drinks and not eating properly. He was recently diagnosed as being a diabetic. Not good. Please take heed to the article that follows. Thank you!
The Awful Truth About Energy Drinks

Author: Scott White

You can't go to a sporting event, sponsored outdoor activity or even the corner store without advertisements for energy drinks staring you down. Will these handy beverages give you a jolt of vigor or leave you in a slump? The answer is, both. And that's not all they'll do.
The active ingredient in energy drinks varies, as do their side effects. None are superior, they all carry the potential to do awful things to your body.
CAFFEINE – It's good enough for coffee and tea, why not your energy drink? It works like amphetamines, cocaine, and heroin, in the way that it stimulates the brain. A typical 12 ounce can of a caffeinated energy drink contains 70-100 mg of caffeine, or the same as two sodas or a 6 ounce cup of coffee. Guarana, a common ingredient in energy drinks, contains caffeine.
Caffeine works by blocking the chemical that makes you naturally drowsy. The chemical, adenosine, is also responsible for dilating the blood vessels. By hiding adenosine, caffeine also causes the brain's blood vessels to constrict.
Your heart rate increases, muscles tighten, your blood pressure rises, blood vessels near the surface constrict and more blood flows to the muscles. Caffeine also increases dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is one of the chemicals responsible for feeling happy. Caffeine is a cardiac stimulant and mild diuretic.
While the short term benefits may seem positive, long term effects can be a real downer. Once the temporary stimulation wears off, your brain suddenly starts to recognize adenosine and a sudden mental sluggishness hits. Your heart racing is unhealthy unless it occurs naturally and is allowed rest periods. Sleep is affected because the internal effects of caffeine aren't over when the "high" is. It takes up to 12 hours for caffeine to completely vacate your body.
As a diuretic, caffeine speeds along your urination cycle, taking calcium with it. Long term, heavy caffeine use could lead to developing osteoporosis.
SUGAR – Most energy drinks, except those that are labeled "sugar free" and usually those marketed as "light" are high in sugar. The sugar in an 8 ounce can ranges from 5 to 8 teaspoons and usually accounts for 100% of the carbohydrates (80 – 130 calories). The RDA for sugar is no more than 6 – 7 teaspoons of sugar for each 2000 calories consumed. One bottle of energy drink contains all of the sugar you should eat in a day.
Sugar gives you a quick bump of energy because it is absorbed into the human body much faster than other energy sources, like protein. Studies show sugar can take effect within a minute of entering the body. Sugar raises the blood sugar level and gives you quick energy. This is often short lived, though, because the body quickly releases a blast of insulin, quickly lowering your blood sugar. When blood sugar plummets, so does energy and endurance.
While the short term side effects of sugar – crashing hours after consumption, increased appetite and the possibility of cavities – are somewhat mild, long term effects are not. Type 2 diabetes has been linked to sugar misuse. Weight gain due to the consumption of empty calories is becoming a bigger problem in the US and around the globe.
TAURINE, B VITAMINS AND GINSENG – These three ingredients are also commonly found in energy drinks.
Taurine helps move potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium into and out of cells and generates nerve signals.
B Vitamins are important for many functions of the body including reduction of stress and depression, metabolism and digestive system. However, too much vitamin B can cause nausea, gout, hypothyroidism, insomnia or reduced insulin release, among other side effects.

I'm feeling kind of Blah Today! : (

Last night, I went to bed perfectly fine. My youngest son had a weird rash spring up on him last night. It was a severe allergic reaction. The rash was red, tan, and blotchy looking. He and his friend got into some shampoo and shaving cream yesterday. I think he was allergic to the shaving cream. I gave him a 1/2 tps Benadryl and no rash this morning. I was so relieved. I woke up this morning with a cough. Where was that yesterday? I had a headache last night but thought it was my usual sinus headache. Nothing got rid of it except going to bed and sleeping it off. I decided to post an article today about cold and cough since I have one today. I just feel kind of blah.
Enjoy!

More Bathroom Crazieness!

Oh Shaving Cream, Oh Shaving Cream!!!

I decided to tell you guys my frustrating yet hilarious morning. This is a true story. I hope it makes you smile. Everyone needs a great laugh from time to time. I was having technical difficulties this morning. I woke up and my internet wouldn't pull up any pages at all. I called tech support at Clear Wire. Three hours later, we have my computer running better than it has in the one year and one month I have had it. Geek Squad told me over a week ago that one part of my motherboard was going out. My computer would probably quit working. So far, one week later all is well. I had to redo my settings on my memory. I'm working on deleting things my hubby and kids downloaded on this thing none of us even use. While I was on the phone with tech support, my toddler and his friend we were babysitting decided to go into the bathroom and squirt my shaving cream all over the sink and the floor. They laughed and laughed. I don't know what they thought they were doing. Of course, I had to admit it's kinda funny. At least, noone was hurt. I just cleaned it up with a laugh and grin.
What else can ya do?
